Schoenberg Pierrot lunaire
Walton Façade
TheCovent Garden-based Orchestra of St Paul’s performs two 20th-century masterpieces combining music and the spoken word. Schoenberg’s Pierrot lunaire features the poems of Albert Giraud, performed by the British soprano Sarah Gabriel, while Walton’s witty Façade sets the entertaining poems of Dame Edith Sitwell to an equally sparkling score. The reciter in this performance, the writer and food critic William Sitwell, is the poet’s great grand-nephew.
