Researchers discover vulnerabilities that allow mobile phone users to be tracked by friends and enemies

Description
New privacy threats have been discovered by University of Birmingham researchers which allow the physical presence of mobile phones operating on 3G networks to be tracked by third parties. This research will be presented at the ACM conference on Computer and Communications Security in Raleigh, North Carolina on Tuesday 16th October 2012.

Birmingham-Nottingham Strategic Collaboration Fund Launched

Description
Two leading Midlands universities, the University of Birmingham and the University of Nottingham, are building on their recent landmark collaboration by launching a £400,000 fund to support new joint projects. The money will help to deliver new scientific breakthroughs and innovations as well as supporting a range of other initiatives, such as developing new approaches to teaching at the two universities.
