A leading Sikh faith leader will receive an honorary degree from the University of Birmingham today.

Bhai Sahib Mohinder Singh will become an honorary Doctor of the University (DUniv).

Bhai Sahib is Spiritual Successor and Chairperson of Guru Nanak Niskam Sewak Jatha, a registered Sikh charity which has an estimated one-million members worldwide.

He was educated in civil and structural engineering and has managed projects across Africa, India and the UK, where he has focussed on spiritual regeneration, conservation, health, education and employment.

In 1989, after a profound spiritual experience, Bhai Sahib gave up his entire way of life, and committed himself to a deeply spiritual existence. And it is this commitment to devout service that has bought him to the forefront of the community.

Bhai Sahib serves on the University of Birmingham Advisory Board and is Patron of the United Religions Initiative.
