Winterbourne House and Garden

To celebrate the change in seasons, Winterbourne House and Garden is hosting an Autumn Festival on October 30 and 31.

This colourful two-day event will be packed with activities for all the family.

Winterbourne House is a stunning example of an Edwardian Arts and Crafts villa and the ground floor exhibition rooms showcase the home’s history.

The weekend will be a chance for visitors to see the beautiful displays of colour in the garden, have fun with festive Edwardian games such as apple bobbing and conker contests, and enjoy a tasty toffee apple (or two!) from the tea room.

Children can search the house for spooky black cats, try pumpkin carving in the kitchen and there will be an autumnal trail in the garden for them to follow.

While the youngsters are busy, the adults can relax in the garden with a glass of warm cider, or the more competitive parents and grandparents could show the little ones how to win at conkers.

At some point over the weekend, rumours abound that the Witch of Winterbourne may make an appearance so keep your eyes peeled!

Winterbourne is part of the University of Birmingham campus and the house is on Edgbaston Park Road.

The Autumn Festival is taking place on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st October from 10am – 4pm. Entry to the garden costs £4.50 for adults and £3.50 for concessions. The house is free of charge.

Some small charges may apply to children’s activities on the day but they will be clearly displayed. All children under five gain free access to the house and garden.
