Twenty members of the University of Birmingham Sport (UBSport) Triathlon club braved the miserable weather on Sunday, November 20 to compete in the British University and Colleges Sports (BUCS) aptly named ‘Chilly’ Duathlon at Castle Coombe, Wiltshire.

It was a particularly good event for History students Josh Miers and Jack Peasgood, who placed eighth (45:08:701) and 11th (45:35:283) respectively and won the team silver after completing a two-mile run, followed by a ten-mile bike ride and finally another two-mile run around the historic course.

The team medals are awarded by totalling the times of the top two finishers from each competing University, so it was an incredible effort showing the strength and depth of the team.

Triathlon Head coach Steve Lumley said, ‘It was great to see such a good turn out from the club, with many new members taking part in their first multi-sport event alongside more experienced club members and elite athletes.’

He added, ‘It was a great performance from all in cold, blustery weather, topped off by a BUCS silver medal for the men’s team.’
