A bottle of water before each meal could help in weight reduction, researchers say

Description
Researchers from the University of Birmingham have shown that drinking 500ml of water at half an hour before eating main meals may help obese adults to lose weight. They believe that the simple intervention could be hugely beneficial, and be easily promoted by healthcare professionals and through public health campaigns.

New research sheds light on end of Snowball Earth period

Description
The second ice age during the Cryogenian period was not followed by the sudden and chaotic melting-back of the ice as previously thought, but ended with regular advances and retreats of the ice, according to research published by scientists from the University of Birmingham in the journal Nature Geoscience today (24 August 2015).

Birmingham ranked among the world's top 150 universities

Description
The University of Birmingham has been ranked in the top 100 universities worldwide for Clinical Medicine and Pharmacy and Life and Agriculture Sciences. The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), also known as the Shanghai Ranking, has placed Birmingham overall within the top 150 universities globally.
