University achieves significant reduction in CO2 emissions

Description: The University is committed to an absolute reduction in carbon emissions of 20% by 2020 from a 2005/2006 baseline. In order to achieve this we have undertaken a number of projects which have culminated this year in reduced CO2 emissions by 19.7%. This shows a marked reduction from our 2005/2006 baseline of 62,423 tonnes of CO2 down to 50,132 tonnes of CO2 in 2011/2012.

Description: The University of Birmingham is delighted that two long-serving and highly successful members of staff have been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours, announced today. Professor Michael Sterling, the previous Vice-Chancellor of the University of Birmingham has received a Knighthood, and Gill Ball, the Director of Finance has received an OBE.
