Future of electro engineering student group shaped at Birmingham

Representatives of more than 15 student branches of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) have gathered at the University of Birmingham to plan the future of the prestigious association in the UK and Ireland. The student arm of the IEEE is the largest student body in the field of electro and information technologies, with nearly 2,000 branches in 80 countries.

Impressive performance for Birmingham in new Times league table

As thousands of new students arrive to take the next step in their education, the University of Birmingham has climbed up the national rankings. The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2015 has placed Birmingham 15th overall, up from 16th last year. The University of Birmingham is now ranked ninth within the Russell Group of leading research intensive universities, ahead of Nottingham and Manchester.

People in the UK eat their main meal at dinner time, Brazilians eat theirs at lunchtime, and the population of the US tends to eat more throughout the day, according to research by computer scientists at the University of Birmingham in the first study of its kind into eating and drinking habits using social media data.
