Bright sparks discovered via University's project with Birmingham Girls School

Description
The value of studying STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects at 'A' Level has been shown to boost girls' potential earning power by as much as 33%. Encouraging girls to study these subjects at A level has been a long term focus of government policy since 2010.

University of Birmingham signs agreement with forward-thinking Chinese institution

Macbeth Macbeth; Birmingham Shakespeare scholar creates new fiction inside the King's murder chamber

Description
University of Birmingham Shakespeare Institute scholar, Professor Ewan Fernie, of the Shakespeare Institute has co-authored a new work of fiction, Macbeth Macbeth, based on the Scottish play. The novel, by Fernie and Professor Simon Palfrey of the University of Oxford, is a response to Shakespeare's play that turns into its own entirely new work of fiction.

International Shakespeare Scholars meet for 10th World Congress in London and Stratford Upon-Avon

Over 800 Shakespeare scholars from more than 48 countries are gathering in Stratford Upon-Avon and London for the 10th World Shakespeare Congress, to explore and honour the Bard's work some 400 years after his death.
