Divided Britain: research reveals growing gulf between those financially included and excluded

The gulf between the 'haves' and 'have-nots' in British society is widening. On one side, more people are having to exist without bank accounts, resorting to food banks and being evicted from their homes. On the other, more people are benefitting from workplace pensions, paying low interest rates on their mortgages and increasing their savings.

Study finds that the majority of older people are admitted to hospital appropriately, challenging current perceptions

Researchers at the University of Birmingham have found that the majority of over 65s admitted to hospital felt that it was the right choice for their health, while all GPs and hospital doctors who took part in the study said they felt there had been no inappropriate admissions.
