First Lego League 2016

First Lego League 2016
Description
For the first time, partners from industry and the armed services joined the judging panels at our FIRST LEGO League tournament hosted on January 8 2015 here at the University. Representatives from National Instruments, Network Rail, Mackwell, the Defence Training Undergraduate Scheme, Bournville College and IBM took part in this West Midlands regional tournament which is part of an international Engineering challenge run in the UK and Ireland by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

Birmingham–Beijing energy partnership wins Chinese funding for joint research programme

Energy storage experts at the University of Birmingham and the University of Science & Technology Beijing (USTB) have won a major funding award from the Chinese government for a joint doctoral research programme. The two universities set up the Joint Centre for Energy & Environment Research and Education (CEERE) just over a year ago and colleagues at the research facility have now secured funding for a joint PhD programme.
