Transformational campus development to get underway

Description
The University of Birmingham's plans for a £175million campusdevelopment project including brand new library and sports centre have beenapproved by Birmingham City Council. This marks thefinal step in the planning stages for a five-year investment in facilities thatwill transform the University's famous Edgbaston campus and extend the servicesavailable to the local community.

University achieves significant reduction in CO2 emissions

Description
The University is committed to an absolute reduction in carbon emissions of 20% by 2020 from a 2005/2006 baseline. In order to achieve this we have undertaken a number of projects which have culminated this year in reduced CO2 emissions by 19.7%. This shows a marked reduction from our 2005/2006 baseline of 62,423 tonnes of CO2 down to 50,132 tonnes of CO2 in 2011/2012.

University of Birmingham delighted by Queen's Birthday Honours

The University of Birmingham is delighted that two long-serving and highly successful members of staff have been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours, announced today. Professor Michael Sterling, the previous Vice-Chancellor of the University of Birmingham has received a Knighthood, and Gill Ball, the Director of Finance has received an OBE.
