Miss Lala_Degas

A talk by Dr Sophie Bostock exploring representations of black women in four works from the collection including Degas' Miss Lala at the Cirque Fernando (1879), Gauguin's Bathers at Tahiti (1897), a West African Hand Altar for a Queen Mother (18th-19th century), and an Indian Miniature painting (18th century).
