Hans Schwarz (1922 – 2003) was a painter, sculptor, illustrator, writer and teacher. Paintings of people were central to his work. This exhibition presents a selection of portraits and figure paintings recently given to the University of Birmingham, spanning a career of over sixty years. The artist’s life is also presented through letters, photographs, sketches and objects, examining the places and people who influenced his work.
