The Enterprise Training Programme (formerly Medici)

ConferenceThe Enterprise Training Programme has been training internal and external entrepreneurial academic and research staff for nine years with the aim of helping delegates realise the commercial potential of their research.

Over the course of the training programme delegates have an opportunity to develop relationships with internal and external university personnel. Through a combination of seminars and interactive group work sessions, the programme aims to identify and develop the vital business skills delegates need in order to successfully commercialise their research. The programme explores the various routes that the delegates can follow; so that they can make an informed decision of how best to take their research idea forward commercially.

Medici delegates usually attend 4, two day training modules covering:

  • Business strategy
  • Organisational structures
  • Marketing
  • Finance and business planning
  • Ways of assessing an innovative idea
  • Intellectual property protection and exploitation
  • Funding opportunities
  • Sales and negotiation skills
  • Networking skills
