If you’re attending any of the University of Birmingham presessional summer school courses and wish to live in University accommodation while you’re studying with us, you’ll need to complete our online application (open now), making sure you select the presessional 2014 classification.
University accommodation for 20 and 15-week presessional students
Availability of University self-catering accommodation is very limited at this time of year so you’ll be allocated a room in a flat where there’s a vacancy. The approximate accommodation fee ranges from £90 a week for a flat with shared facilities to £176 a week for an en suite Meal Plan room.
If we can offer you accommodation you will receive your offer before you arrive and after you’ve submitted your online application. There are two types of contract length you may be offered:
If we can offer you a postgraduate room, the contract will run until 6th September 2014. Once you have received your offer you will be required to make an online payment in full to secure your accommodation for this academic year. By accepting the contract you are agreeing to stay in and pay for the accommodation you have been allocated until the end of the contract. If you wish to stay in University accommodation for the academic year 2014/2015 after your presessional course you must submit a 2nd application form for the academic year 2014-2015. The accommodation pre-payment will be £550 for 2014/2015 .You can apply using our online accommodation application form selecting the either postgraduate or undergraduate depending on your course.
Accommodation contract length: until 6th September - once you have received your offer you will be required to make an online payment in full to secure your accommodation. By accepting the contract you are agreeing to stay in and pay for the accommodation you have been allocated until the end of the contract.
Accommodation contract length: until 5th July -You will be required to pay in full for your accommodation before you arrive. On 5th July you will vacate your accommodation if you are moving into the private sector. All contracts in the private sector begin on 1st July . If you wish to stay in University accommodation for the remainder of your presessional course you will remain in your room until the weekend of 12th July when you will be moved to Pritchatts Park Village in shared accommodation for the summer until 17th September 2014.
During the period 12th July to 17th September the cost of shared accommodation will be £115 a week, which includes a twice-weekly clean to the communal areas
If you wish to stay in University accommodation for the academic year 2014 - 15 after your presessional course, you’ll need to submit a second application form. The accommodation pre-payment is £550 for which will then be deducted from the balance of your accommodation fee. You can apply using our online accommodation application form selecting either postgraduate or undergraduate, depending on your course.

University accommodation for 10, 6 and 3-week presessional students
You will primarily be allocated accommodation at Pritchatts Park Village in Pritchatts House,Oakley Court or Ashcroft please note that accommodation sites can change according to demand. The cost of a room with shared facilities at Pritchatts House, Oakley and Ashcroft is £115.00 a week for a room with shared facilities and £125.00 per week for a duplex room, this includes a twice-weekly clean, bedding and basic crockery and cutlery for the use of all students in the kitchens.
If you also require accommodation for your academic course beginning in September, you’ll need to complete a second online application selecting academic year 2014 - 15 at the same time as your application for presessional accommodation.
Once you have received your offer of accommodation for your presessional course you will need to make a payment in full for the accommodation. During your presessional course you will be sent a second contract for your accommodation from September 2014 if appropriate, and will need to make a pre-payment of £550 to secure the accommodation which will then be deducted from the balance of your accommodation fee.
