Aims and objectives
The aim of this module is to introduce the recent developments in the general area of Human Resource Management that involve the recruitment, performance enhancement and retention of key –talented - employees within the organisation.
The specific policies and practices associated with these activities that have been primarily conducted by multinational organisations are known as Global Talent Management. Because these initiatives are usually introduced at a corporate level, their role in strategic business analysis becomes important.
Attention will be given to specific firm and cultural differences in the delivery of these policies and will also analyse the ways in which a Global Talent Management programme will impact on national policies related to training, managing poor performance and other People Management issues. This will require an analysis of relevant approaches to the issues of Employer Branding and Employee Engagement.
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Demonstrate an advanced understanding of the main principles of Talent Management and the contexts in which the application of these principles are likely to be most successful.
Critically evaluate the various company policies that attempt to link Talent Management initiatives with traditional Human Resource Management practices.
Apply the newly developed managerial techniques of Talent Management to firms in different national and cultural contexts.
Understand and demonstrate a critical appreciation of the role of Employer Branding and Employee Engagement in developing efficient techniques to recruit and retain employees.
