Gravitational Waves: Whispers of the Universe

“With gravitational waves we can 'listen' to the Universe. So far, almost everything we know about the Universe comes from types of light.”

After the first detection of gravitational waves in 2015 by the two LIGO observatories, we can finally listen to objects that do not emit any light. As gravitation waves are so small, I use computational methods to learn about their sources. 

Hannah Middleton is a postgraduate researcher in the School of Physics and Astronomy.
