Scholarships in the College of Life and Environmental Sciences

The College of Life and Environmental Sciences offer a wide variety of scholarships for postgraduates students.

The University Graduate School has recently launched the Doctoral Researcher Elite Scholarships. The Elite Scholarships are full fee and maintenance grant awards for high calibre overseas doctoral researchers coming to Birmingham to start their PhD study. 

School of Biosciences

The School of Biosciences offer a number of research council studentships available
for home/EU students who wish to undertake a PhD; all awards are allocated on a competitive basis. In addition, Darwin Scholarships may be offered to students undertaking PhD projects in the area of microbial (preferably bacterial) molecular genetics.

School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences

The School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences offer variety of scholarships are available that range from full fees to a contribution to the cost of fees. In addition, many of the school's doctoral researchers are funded by scholarships from their own government or other agencies.

School of Psychology

The School of Psychology offer studentships for research degrees through the College of Life and Environmental Sciences competition. Students are also eligible for competitive ESRC and BBSRC studentships.

School of Sport and Exercise Sciences

The School of Sport and Exercise Sciences offer several school-funded PhD scholarship awards each year as part of the school's commitment to research excellence.

 

In order to be eligible for a scholarship within the college, candidates must usually either hold an offer of a place to study or have submitted an application to study at the University.
