Scholarships in the College of Medical and Dental Sciences

The College of Medical and Dental Sciences offer a number of scholarships for postgraduates students.

The College of Medical and Dental Sciences recruits to a number of four-year (1+3) fully-funded studentships along with a number of fully funded three year studentships each year across many key areas of its research.

The College holds studentship funding from major funding bodies such as the MRC, BBSRC, Wellcome Trust and Cancer Research UK. Studentships are fully-funded (stipend + tuition fees) for home/EU students and applications are considered from those students holding, or expecting to obtain, a 2.1 degree or above.

In addition to these awards, the University Graduate School have also recently launched the Doctoral Researcher Elite Scholarships. The Elite Scholarships are full fee and maintenance grant awards for high calibre overseas doctoral researchers coming to Birmingham to start their PhD study.

Within the School of Health and Population Sciences, all successful applicants classified by the University against national criteria as home students are exempt from tuition fees for the MSc Physiotherapy (pre-registration) programme and may be eligible
to apply for an NHS bursary.

In order to be eligible for a scholarship within the college, candidates must usually either hold an offer of a place to study or have submitted an application to study at the University.
