PhD title: US cultural propaganda in Italy during the Cold War
Supervisors: Professor Scott Lucas
PhD American and Canadian Studies

This research focuses on the Cultural aspects of the Cold War and particularly on the Italian review Tempo Presente. This review was a peculiar product of the Congress for Cultural Freedom, one of the most successful Cold War instruments funded by CIA during the Cold War aiming to detach the European intelligentsia from the appeal of Communism. I will specifically concentrate on the re-interpretation of the Italian conflict, trying to offer a new perspective that rehabilitate the role of the local.
