Diana Spencer participates in the 'Encounters with Popular Pasts' workshop

Dr Diana Spencer participated in the ‘Encounters with Popular Pasts’ workshop jointly run by the University of Birmingham and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, in Illinois on the 23-24 May 2013.

Dr Spencer spoke on the painter Alma-Tadema and how his iconic images feed into toga-movies, especially, Gladiator (2000). The title of her presentation was 'Antiquity from Site to Vision: Understanding Technicolor Rome'.
