We are pleased to invite you the 4th Translation Studies Research Forum. This year’s forum will also mark the official launch of the Birmingham Centre for Translation and will be celebrated with two public lectures: by Honorary Director of the Centre, Prof. Susan Bassnett, and guest speaker Prof. Andreas Musolff from the University of East Anglia.
The two public lectures will be complemented by two round tables organised by members of BCT where current research within the Centre will be discussed. Topics include Translation and Gender in Contemporary Literature and The Translation of Images and Images of Translation.

Public lectures' speakers
Susan Bassnett is a Professor of Comparative Literature in the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies at the University of Warwick and a leading figure internationally in the field. Her publications include the seminal textbook Translation Studies (4th ed 2013). She has also (co-) written or edited Translation, History and Culture (1990), Constructing Cultures: Essays on Literary Translation (1996), Postcolonial Translation: Theory and Practice (1998), The Translator as Writer (2006), Translation in Global News (2008), and Political Discourse, Media and Translation (2010).
Andreas Musolff is Professor of Intercultural Communication at the University of East Anglia in Norwich. His monographs include Metaphor, Nation and the Holocaust (2010), Metaphor and Political Discourse (2004) and War against the Public: The Language of Terrorism (1996, in German); he has also published edited volumes, articles and book chapters on political discourse and metaphor theory.
