About the Centre for Crime, Justice and Policing

The Centre for Crime, Justice and Policing brings together a diverse group of researchers who either work in the area of crime, justice and policing or have methodological expertise. With over 40 researchers in UOB who work in these areas, the centre taps the synergies across interests and disciplines to develop a culture of collaborative working leading across disciplines to address some of the big challenges facing the criminal justice sector.

The Centre builds on the University of Birmingham’s world class reputation for academic excellence by bringing together a diverse group of researchers who either work in the area of crime, justice and policing or have methodological expertise.

World class research

With over 40 researchers in UOB who work in these areas, the Centre taps the synergies across interests and disciplines to develop a culture of collaborative working leading to joint grant applications, journal articles and enhanced impact.

World class teaching

The Centre acts as a unifying hub to support the needs of practitioners and provide training that leads to sustainable knowledge transfer. In the medium term the Centre has ambition to develop a curriculum involving expertise across disciplines and develop into an Institute.

World class partnerships

The Centre actively works with a range of other higher education institutions, and a range of criminal justice partner agencies, to provide world class evaluation and policy impact. The Centre actively encourages collaborative research and evaluation, seeking academic and practitioner partnerships.
