Biosciences and medicine

This section covers biomedical applications of imaging and visualisation, from basic sciences to the translational research which takes new developments from the research laboratory to the clinic. 

Cases include the multi-scale, multi-method imaging of biofilms in bioremediation; new hyper-spectral imaging methods for studying protein-protein interactions; the dynamic in-vivo studies of neuron growth and function, and of the molecular basis of various functions in the cardiovascular system. Also included are studies of brain function using functional MRI (fMRI) with applications in the understanding of stroke recovery, the assessment of paediatric brain tumours and their therapy, together with research in psychology, perception, and sports & exercise science. A number of other clinical medical imaging projects using novel systems and methodologies are also included.
