The Centre for West Midlands History, (originally the Centre for Birmingham and Midlands History), was founded at the University of Birmingham in 2006 to create a forum for research into and study of the history of the region.
The Centre runs a Masters degree in West Midlands History, an annual conference, day schools and other public events. It provides support for projects and works with heritage professionals and independent scholars in the wider community. The Friends of the Centre for West Midlands History is a recent initiative.
The MA in West Midlands History provides the opportunity to pursue a study of your local area, either for career purposes or, in my case, to enable my retirement to be more fulfilling.
