Catherine Cartwright

Initially I found a return to education at this level daunting but soon realised I was not on my own. I found the course stimulating, the lecturers enthusiastic, fellow students friendly and there was always support and advice available when I needed it.

The broad scope of subjects, including some I had previously ignored because they did not interest me, were brought to life through wide-ranging primary sources, so I took each topic and each essay one step at a time and felt a real sense of achievement by the end of the course. Throughout I was learning how to analyse historical sources and I am now much more confident in my research and writing techniques. I would certainly recommend the course to anyone interested in history – and I do!
