Pete Bounous

I started the MA purely out of personal interest, and I have found it to be a stimulating and thoroughly enjoyable course.

The taught sessions provide a friendly and supportive environment in which to learn, which is especially encouraging as it has been many years since I studied formally.

The classes are very well structured and provide good preparation for the assignments, of which there are always a wide range to choose from. I purposely chose to study subjects which I knew nothing about and have really enjoyed the discoveries I have made.

The tutors themselves are very knowledgeable and extremely supportive and this, I feel, is a particular strength of the course. I have also found that being a student on this course has opened the door to a whole historical community of societies, associations and institutions which I was previously unaware of. As a full-time primary school teacher, the workload has been demanding but manageable and the skills which I have developed and the knowledge I have gained have been hugely rewarding.

In fact, I have enjoyed it so much that I have decided to undertake a PhD next year. I would recommend this course to anyone wishing to expand their historical skills and knowledge through the study of the West Midlands.
