Developing a set of National Standards in Autism Education

Dr Glenys Jones has been successful in her bid to lead a team to develop a set of National Standards in Autism Education commissioned by the Autism Education Trust.

New autism training materials

Dr Karen Guldberg and her team have been commissioned by the Autism Education Trust to develop three levels of training materials to be delivered by seven different training hubs across England.

Funding Success!

Dr Karen Guldberg has received news that she has been successful in securing ESRC Follow-On funding. Karen will be working with her PhD students and a team of researchers from different Universities. The research will explore the educational implications of using various technologies that have been developed for children with autism.

'Flexible Curriculum' required to ensure pupils with autism achieve potential

A report by the Autism Education Trust (AET) finds the current education system lacks flexibility in its approach to pupils on the autism spectrum. The research (Educational provision and outcomes for people on the autism spectrum) led by Dr Kerstin Wittemeyer from the Autism Centre of Education and Research at the University of Birmingham, found that teachers are not being given enough guidance or scope to adapt the National Curriculum to include social and life skills for pupils with autism.
