Interactive Systems Engineering

Our work begins with human activity and we engineer solutions to recognise, respond to or support this activity. To do this we develop fundamental understanding of how human activity is performed, how it can be modelled and how it can be enhanced. This involves research ranging from the study of human activity in real world settings to data mining, machine learning, and digital signal processing. Much of our work focuses on specific application domains, such as healthcare and rehabilitation, education and heritage, defence and security. Much of our work is organised in the following laboratories.
