The Centre for the Study of Global Ethics and the Philosophy department are seeking to appoint a full-time permanent Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Global Ethics.
The start date will be September 2013 or as near as possible after that. The successful candidate will also be the Deputy Director of the Centre for the Study of Global Ethics and will work with Professor Heather Widdows, the Director of the Centre.
The person appointed to the position will develop and promote the Centre with regard to research, policy work and teaching. They must have have a willingness and enthusiasm for multidisciplinary work - particularly with regard to grants and teaching - and also a desire to influence policy and practice and to work with policy-makers, practioners, and activists to this end.
The successful candidate is likely to specialise in applied ethics, moral philosophy, or political philosophy. They will be expected to contribute to teaching in the Department, and in particular to teaching of bioethics, global justice, and human rights, and they are also expected to take part in the Centre's and Department's administration.
The closing date for applications is 7 June 2013. The Lecturer salary range will be £37.382 to £44.607 with potential progression once in post to £50.186. The Senior Lecturer salary range will be £45.941 to £53.233 with potential progression once in post to £69.412.
