Workshop Leader(s)Dr Michael Grey (School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences)

Historically the dangers associated with concussion have been underestimated. Concussion is associated with high incidence of cognitive and behavioural dysfunction; post-traumatic stress disorder and social isolation and athletes, soldiers and children are particularly at risk. This public engagement event will raise awareness about the problem of concussion.

This workshop will be composed of researchers from Sport Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences, Psychology, Biosciences, Engineering, Computer Science and Medical and Dental Sciences. The event will consist of a series of talks on concussion focusing on highlighting the problem and solutions to raise awareness in the community.

External attendees include:

  • Peter McCabe (headway)
  • Prof Willie Stewart (Glasgow)
  • Prof Mike McNamee (Swansea)
  • Peter Robinson (concussion advocate)
