Speaker: Professor Eliezer Rabinovici, Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Vice President, CERN and SESAME Council
String Theory is a brave attempt to find a framework in which all the known basic interactions of matter can be described. It has grown out of the very precise, experimentally driven field of elementary particle physics and has inspired and captured the imagination of a generation of high energy physicists.
In his lecture Professor Rabinovici will describe the spirit behind the quest for a simple theory of nature, the ideas which have been validated by nature and those which wait to be discovered or refuted; he will describe some of the amazing and unexpected properties which seem to have a touch of magic that have been the outcome of this research.
