In May 2011 IEL Director Professor Martin Trybus moderated a Panel Discussion on future public procurement reform in the countries where the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is active. These are the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the Community of Independent States (CIS) countries including Russia, and Mongolia.
The workshop formed part of the EBRD Business Forum which leads to the Annual Meeting of the Bank. The 2011 event was held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan (Central Asia). The Panel included speakers from the EBRD, the Untied Nations Commission for International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Developement (OECD), and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The Panel Discussion in the hall of the Kazakh cabinet was attended inter alia by the Vice President of the EBRD, the Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan, and the Deputy Minister of Finance of Tajikistan, and the Deputy Minister of Economic of Moldova.
