Multi-centre, international, open label, factorial design, randomized control trial in severe ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV).

Description
ASTRAL is a multicentre, randomized, unblinded clinical trial, comparing revascularisation in addition to medical therapy versus medical therapy alone in patients with atherosclerotic renovascular disease (ARVD). The aim of ASTRAL is to assess whether renal arterial revascularisation with balloon angioplasty and/or endovascular stenting can safely prevent progressive renal failure among patients with ARVD. ASTRAL closed to recruitment in October 2007 having recruited 806 patients, and is now in long term follow up until 2017. The trial is managed by the BCTU at the University of Birmingham.

GloMY is a national, multicentre, randomised controlled open-label pilot trial of Myfortic plus short course steroids versus standard care in patients with FSGS and IgAN. The aim of GloMY is to determine the feasibility of running a full-scale phase III randomised trial. It is managed by the BCTU at the University of Birmingham.

Description
The PD COMM Pilot study is a multi centre clinical trial pilot ran by Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit and sponsored by the University of Birmingham. Its aim is to evaluate the feasibility of a full scale trial on the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of two types of speech and language therapy for people with Parkinson's disease who have self reported problems with voice or speech – standard NHS therapy and Lee Silverman Voice Training.
