Early Qur'anic manuscripts in the Mingana collection

Alba Fedeli, whose PhD research in ITSEE focuses on early Qur'anic manuscripts, will give a talk at the Cadbury Research Library about the early Qur'anic mfragments in the Mingana collection and how they came to be in Birmingham.

The talk accompanies Birmingham Musuem and Art Gallery's exhibition about Islamic calligraphy - 'Qalam: the Art of Beautiful Writing'. Items from the Mingana Collection on loan from the Cadbury Research Library are on display at this free exhibition in Birmingham city centre until 26th January 2013. They include the very early Qur'anic fragments, Islamic Arabic 1563 and 1572, which are also viewable online through the Birmingham Virtual Manuscript Room (VMR).
