The four editors of the Vetus Latina Iohannes with the first fascicle
The second fascicle of the Vetus Latina Iohannes, the new edition of the earliest Latin versions of the Gospel according to John, has been published!
The new fascicle of 360 pages covers John 4:49 to 9:41. This volume includes the Latin evidence for contested verses such as John 5:3 and the Story of the Woman Taken in Adultery (John 7:53-8:11; the Pericope Adulterae). The Latin tradition provides much of the earliest surviving evidence for the latter passage of John, with its famous admonition to "let him who is without sin cast the first stone".
The first fascicle was published in 2011. The online electronic edition of the manuscripts at http://www.iohannes.com/vetuslatina/ has now received over 10,500 individual visits, with users from 12 countries in the current month alone. The project received funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council between 2002 and 2010. Work continues on the rest of the Gospel in conjunction with the International Greek New Testament Project's work on John.
