MRC Centre for Immune Regulation

MRC Centre for Immune Regulation logoEstablished in 1999, the Birmingham MRC Centre for Immune Regulation provides a coherent focus for immunology research supported by state of the art technologies. The Centre reflects the international profile of both basic and clinical immunology within the University of Birmingham.

The global aim of the research focused in the Centre is to gain a better understanding of immune factors in autoimmunity, immune mediated inflammatory disease and selected bacterial and virus mediated diseases through insights into the microenvironmental control of immune responses in relation to:

  • Cellular and molecular mechanisms of immune regulation
  • Autoimmunity
  • Immune mediated inflammatory disease
  • Selected bacterial and virus mediated diseases

The Centre incorporates researchers from the School of Immunity and Infection, School of Cancer Sciences and School of Clinical and Experimental Medicine.
