Primary Care Research Network for Central England
PCRN-CE is one of eight regionally-based Local Research Networks in England. PCRN-CE is part of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and provides a world class research infrastructure embedded within the University of Birmingham to support high quality clinical research studies within NHS primary care.
The PCRN-CE aims to:
• Facilitate and increase the participation of general practices, primary care practitioners and patients in research,
• Ensure the successful set-up, delivery and completion of a national portfolio of high quality primary care studies,
• Embed research into the day-to-day delivery of primary care.
The University of Birmingham hosts the Birmingham and Black Country (BBC) spoke of the PCRN-CE and we work very closely with the 421 GP practices in the local area. Last year we helped to recruit over 10,000 patients into eligible research studies.
