Tracer Based Metabolism — Where Biochemistry meets the Eye or How long is the Coast Line of Britain?

Dr Christian Ludwig
Postdoctoral Researcher
University of Birmingham

Christian was awarded his PhD in Biochemistry from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt. After his PhD he went to London to work with John Griffiths at St. Georges' Hospital Medical School in the area of pre-clinical MRI method development for determining tumour vasculature and drug efficacy. Christian joined the University of Birmingham in 2004 to help build up and run the newly built HWB-NMR centre. Since 2009 he is a lecturer in the IMSR.Research in Christians group is focused on the development of novel experimental and analytical approaches to map metabolic pathway activities without necessarily assuming a particular metabolism model for a given cell type with a strong focus on studying metabolism of ex-vivo perfused kidneys
