Applications are open to students that have or expect to obtain at least a good 2:1 (honours) or first class degree (or equivalent EU/overseas degree) in a physical scientific discipline (we accept qualifications in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Natural Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics).
International applicants are expected to demonstrate a good level of written and spoken English. A full list of appropriate qualifications for this purpose and further guidance for international applicants are available from the postgraduate entry office of the University.
Entry to our programme is highly competitive and is based on original evaluation of the application form followed by an invitation for interview for the successfully shortlisted applicants. Consequently we consider each applicant on their individual merit which includes skills, attributes, motivation and potential for success of an individual when making an offer. We interview all applicants (if you are applying from outside the UK we may schedule a telephone/skype interview). You are required to support your application with a statement of motivation for joining the programme highlighting your key attributes, strengths, suitability and future ambitions. We are a global community. We believe our diversity is a source of strength that underpins the exchange of ideas, innovation and debate at the heart of our academic mission.
