This learning set programme involves senior NHS managers visiting high performing health care organizations in Sweden, the Netherlands and Norway.
The aim of this programme is to enable senior NHS leaders to learn about the characteristics of high performing health care organizations in a number of European countries. During visits to these countries, participants are able to understand the improvement journeys the organisations have been on through meetings and discussions with organisational leaders and clinical teams. Each visit takes place over two days and is preceded by background reading about the countries and organisations visited. The two learning sets that have been run each comprise pairs of senior NHS leaders who are expected to take back the learning to their own organisations. A meeting to assimilate the learning from the programme is being planned for March 2009 with international experts.
