Congratulations Peter Winn and Chris Thomas on their new BBSRC grant

Professor Chris Thomas and Dr Peter Winn have been awarded a BBSRC Grant BB/I014373/1 on "Novel hybrid anti-MRSA antibiotics from manipulation of the mupirocin and thiomarinol biosynthetic pathways", joint with Profs. TJ Simpson (Bristol), CL Willis (Bristol), RJ Cox (Bristol).

The Busby lab is a member of the EU ST-FLOW Project
Description
The ST-FLOW project merges the efforts of 14 leading European research groups for developing material and computational standards that enable the forward-design of prokaryotic systems with a degree of robustness and predictability that is not possible with customary Genetic Engineering.

New MRC grant

EPSRC Synthetic Biology Sandpit
Description
In November an EPSRC funded synthetic biology sandpit was held at the University of Birmingham to bring together researchers interested in synthetic biology and to encourage collaboration. The event was a huge success and has resulted in the establishment of a synthetic biology community at the University.
