Brian Collins is Professor of Engineering Policy at University College London.

Professor Collins was Chief Scientific Adviser (CSA) for DfT (2006-11), for BIS (2009-11) and CSA in BERR (2008-9), during which time energy policy was in his remit. He chairs the Engineering and Interdependency Expert Group for Infrastructure UK, led by Lord James Sassoon, Commercial Secretary in HM Treasury.

Brian leads the multi-disciplinary International Centre for Infrastructure Futures funded by EPSRC and ESRC and is a Senior Co-Investigator of the Liveable Cities programme grant.

He was bestowed by Her Majesty the Queen the Honour of Companion of the Bath (CB) in the 2011 New Years Honours list and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2009. He holds a MA in Physics from Oxford University and a D.Phil in Astrophysics from the same University.
