Hydrogen Locomotion

Description
Hydrogen, as an energy carrier, has received a great deal of attention because it can be produced from many different feedstocks, like electricity, and therefore can provide a clean source of power with minimal local emissions, especially if a fuel cell is used. Recently the Traction Systems Group has investigated the suitability of hydrogen to operate trains. The studies included the energy supply chain and the associated carbon emissions to allow a comparison the incumbent technologies in the railway market.

The University of Birmingham's Human Interface Technologies Team will be bringing the latest in Virtual Reality and Gaming technologies to the shores of Burrator Reservoir this weekend, as they take part in the official opening of South West Lakes' new Discovery Centre. Having already "hit the news" in the south west with their recent achievements using VR techniques to recreate the A7 submarine the HIT Team will be demonstrating how Virtual Reality can be used to "turn the clock back".

Civil Engineering graduates recognised for excellence in geotechnical engineering
