Tudor Grange Academy B91 3PD.
Saturday 7th or Sat 14th July 2012 (Date to be confirmed based on the availability of the STEM ambassadors)
Yr 7-11 (aged 11-16 years), and Parents 20 – 50 (The event will be an open invitation for pupils and parents to drop in during a 2 – 3 hour period).
Tudor Grange would like to run a solar observation morning. After two years of success of running two winter star parties, the school are trying to get pupils and parents engaged in studying our nearest star the sun. The school are seeking ambassadors who may be involved in solar science, amateur astronomers who have access to solar telescopes and filters, to come and help support the activity in observing the sun on a hot July morning. The aim of the event is to have a collection of astronomy enthusiasts on hand to help the pupils and their parents view the sun safely. If there are ambassadors who would like to give a talk on the sun, its cycles, the observations we make etc., aimed at a very basic level (secondary school audience) that would be greatly appreciated.
