The school are looking for STEM Ambassadors to visit their school. The school are very flexible with who visits and will try to match the syllabus to your profession.

Maths at work

Description
The school would like a STEM Ambassador who uses maths in their job to visit the school. You do not necessarily have to be a mathematician but just to be able to demonstrate how maths is useful in your job. The school are very flexible on when you can visit and for how long and would prefer something hands-on or practical to do to show how maths is useful. The sort of things that students learn at this age is adding and subtracting large numbers, metric system, volumes, estimations, 2D and 3D shapes, angles, timetables, decimals and percentages.

STEM Day Yardleys School

The students will be doing an engineering task involving budgeting and designing a way to support/cushion an egg being dropped from various heights. They would like a STEM Ambassador to discuss the engineering considerations from forces/practicality and budgeting linking all strands of STEM in an engaging and fun way.

Inspire female engineering students Grace Academy

Grace Academy are looking for a visit to school from a female engineer for a session to encourage and motivate their female Engineering students. There are 7 girls in total, 1 A level BTEC Engineering and 6 Level 2 BTEC Engineering. Perhaps there could be a follow up visit to their workplace if possible.

The school are looking for a STEM Ambassador to do a general talk on the day-to-day tasks/skills involved when working as a scientist. The school would like to develop the children's understanding that scientists are busy at work in our society, helping us to improve the world that we live in.

Work taster day

The school would like to provide the opportunity for students to find out about the kind of tasks undertaken in a variety of occupational sectors through experiencing an interactive workshop with the aim to provide careers information to pupils about what people do in different jobs.The school are asking for 60 minute hands-on workshops to provide a 'taster' of a particular career. This can involve a short presentation with more focus on the hands-on activity.

Enabling Enterprise Challenge

Enabling Enterprise are running a challenge day at the University of Birmingham for school students. They are looking for STEM Ambassadors to help facilitate the activities and support the students. No preparation is required and this is an ideal first ambassador activity. Full briefing is given on the day

Guess my Job Ninestiles School

Description
The school are running an A* evening for their year 11 students and parents. As part of that, we are running a STEM Guess My Job session so that attendees get a taste of different STEM careers. They will ask you questions about your job and you will either answer yes or no, and they will eventually guess your job. You can bring props along to help the attendees guess your job.
