- The teacher is delivering a series of afternoon club sessions focused on space and earth sciences. He is looking for individuals or a group to deliver sessions based on Earth science, Geology, Volcanology, Space technologies, Exo planets, Robotic telescopes etc. The sessions take place every other Wednesday throughout the rest of this academic year ending in July 2013. The pupils are in the sessions because they want to be there, they have a passion for space/earth science which he really wants to keep alive in them.

- Students at Holyhead school are designing and building a catapult using basic equipment. The students will also be expected to research and come up ideas for additional materials too. The school really need help from ambassadors who have experience of building a catapult or similar structure, and could suggest what materials could be given to students to make the best catapults, as the teachers don't currently have any experience in this area. It would be appreciated if ambassadors could make a few visits into school to assist the students.

- The school are looking for ambassadors with a Chemistry background to help support the science club with some one - off activities. They would really welcome some ideas and inspiration on chemistry related activites which will excite and engage the students. The pupils are studying Earth, Fire and Water this term, so they are looking at distillation, aluminum recycling, uses of limestone and concrete. The school are flexible on the activity as long as it has a chemistry element! They would ideally like for different ambassadors to visit the club each week.

- Do you work in Medical physics / medical engineering? Would you be willing to speak to a group of GCSE students about your area and inform them of the career opportunities available? Lordswood Girls school are looking for volunteers to do a presentation/workshop (lasting between 1-2 hours) discussing the areas of ultrasound, radiotherapy, radiology, MRI, ECG/cardiology and pulse oximetry. The teacher wants to reinforce the medical physics that has been taught in lessons so far and also promote physics and the associated medical careers this can lead into, as most students only seem to consider careers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and optometry.

- Barr Beacon School are organising a family STEM evening for students and their families. The evening will feature employers and Universities showcasing STEM career opportunities and aspirations. The school are looking for any volunteers who could showcase their careers during all or part of the evening. You will be speaking with visitors about your career and answering questions that they may have about your career pathway and possibly delivering a short presentation.

- Are you prepared to work with primary school children and share your passion for your job? The school are holding a 'World of Work' week for all pupils, to give them an insight into the many different career opportunities that they could pursue. The school would like a selection of ambassadors to attend throughout the week , each one delivering to specific year groups (two classes). You will: • talk about the qualifications, skills and qualities needed for your job • talk about why you chose your career • bring some tools of your trade where appropriate, giving children some hands on experience of some aspect of your job, where possible. • discuss what your job entails • share your experiences of the world of work with the children to broaden their outlook on life and realise the diversity of opportunities that can be made available – if they are prepared to work hard and aim high.

- We are looking for ambassadors from a science background to help support the STEM Centre team at a conference for school Heads of Science. We would like to demonstrate to teachers the range of science activities that can be undertaken within the classroom, with a view to increasing the amount of schools requesting STEM Ambassadors. We will need you to demonstrate science activities and answer any questions from teachers. The conference is running from 09.00 - 15.00, but you will only be needed for a portion of the day, which will be confirmed as soon as possible.

- The school are running a number of events this summer as part of their work related curriculum. They are keen to enable their students to gain a broad understanding of the work place and the needs of employers. Key Skills at Work This is a 1.5 day activity to be held on Monday 24th June (all day) and Friday 5th July 2012 (1.30 - 4.00pm. only). Ideally you would attend both days but if this is not possible then you could attend either of the two days. There will be around 90 Yr 11 students going on work experience in attendance for these days. You would act as advisers to a small group of 16 year old students (year 11). There are a range of activities during the day and each representative will work alongside about 10 students as they undertake specific tasks. You will have the opportunity to talk about your job and career path to date as well as giving advice on the task and, in particular, pointing out some of the skills the students need in order to be successful. The Graduate Challenge This takes place on Tuesday 25th June, 8.00am – 4.30pm and is held jointly with King Edward VI Camp Hill Girls School. In total there will be around 250 6th form students aged 17 yrs. The structure of the day is similar to the Key Skills days but focuses on preparing students for employment as future graduates. Most of the students attending will be going on to university and seeking to enter the work force as graduates in due course. You will again spend the day with a small group of students, this time both boys and girls. The day is partly run as a competition in which we seek to find "the ideal potential graduate employee".
