22nd June 9.00am - 3.30pm

Year 8 (aged 12-13 years)

Year group divided into smaller groups

The school are running a STEM Challenge Day called Our World in 2050'. STEM Ambassadors from an engineering background are required to help support the students by sharing their expertise and knowledge. You will be assigned to a group (each group will have a teacher also) where you will help the students to brainstorm the potential problems that will be caused by climate change and sustainability by 2050 and the pupils will try to come up with possible engineering solutions. Each group will present their idea to the rest of the class, after which the group will then vote for the best idea. There will be time later on in the day for the class to work on and develop the winning idea, which will then be presented to a panel of judges. You will also need to be prepared to talk about your own career and the path you took to obtaining it so that you can inspire and motivate the students involved.

In addition the school would also like a speaker to present to the whole year group on the dangers of climate change and the important part STEM professionals can play in helping prevent them
