Successful applicants recruited into the programme scheme will:

  • Study Biological Sciences or Biotechnology for the first 2 years at one of the Chinese universities listed above 
  • Study for the next 2 years in the School of Biosciences at the University of Birmingham, UK
  • Graduate with a Bachelor or Masters degree awarded by the University of Birmingham which will be recognised
    by their Chinese university 

The programmes at Birmingham

  • Students can study either Biological Sciences or Biochemistry
  • We offer a wide choice of specialist modules which allow students to follow their own interests
  • Teaching is delivered in a vibrant research-led environment by internationally recognised specialists
  • Students have the opportunity to join one of the internationally-renowned research teams at Birmingham to carry out their final-year project
  • Practical work will help students to develop their research skills
  • Studying in the UK will help students to develop a more independent learning style in the enquiry-based British education system
  • The ‘Professional Placement’ programmes – part of the MSci (Hons) degrees – offer students the opportunity to spend an additional year working in the UK to gain further work experience
  • The Undergraduate Masters programme (MSci) is a perfect springboard for any student wishing to study for a PhD; it provides a great opportunity to experience research first-hand and allows students to develop their research skills
  • Many students go on to study at PhD level at Birmingham or at other top 50 institutions
