Rankings

The Economist

In the 2011 Economist ''Which MBA' rankings of the world's leading MBA programmes, we are ranked 70th globally (9th in the UK) - indeed we were ranked by them as number 1 in the UK in the 2005 rankings. This year we have a high global ranking in a number of categories:

Financial Times

In the 2012 Global Financial Times MBA rankings, Birmingham Business School’s MBA was positioned at 86th in the world, 20th in Europe and 11th in the UK which included being ranked 35th for Career progression and ranked 6th for Value for Money.

Expansion

We are ranked at 54th in the 2012 Global MBA rankings of Expansion, a leading Spanish-language business magazine published in Mexico. Only 8 other UK schools make it into this ranking.

Professional Bodies

Many of our programmes and courses are also recognised by a range of professional bodies including:

  • CISI - The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment is the largest and most widely respected professional body for those who work in the securities and investment industry in the UK and in a growing number of financial centres globally.
  • KPMG - a global network of professional firms providing Audit, Tax and Advisory services. Birmingham Business School is one of only three UK universities offering the KPMG School Leaver's Programme .
  • ICAEW - a world leading professional membership organisation that promotes, develops and supports over 140,000 chartered accountants worldwide.
  • EIU - the Economist Intelligence Unit is an independent business within the Economist Group. Through research and analysis they offer forecasting and advisory services to its clients.
  • FCA - the Financial Conduct Authority regulate the financial services industry in the UK. Their aim is to protect consumers, ensure the industry remains stable and promote healthy competition between financial services providers.

ACCA Exemptions

Since 2009, our MSc International Accounting and Finance programme has been awarded additional ACCA exemptions, available for graduates as follows:

  • F1 –F4 upon completion of the MSc programme
  • F 5 on the basis of Management Accounting
  • F8 on the basis of Auditing Theory and Practice
  • F9 on the basis of Theory of Financial Management and International Business Finance.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM)

Our suite of MSc Marketing programmes (MSc Marketing, MSc International Marketing, MSc Marketing Communications and MSc Strategic Marketing and Consulting) have been approved and accredited by The Chartered Institute of Marketing and count towards 50% of the CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing.

As part of The Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Dual Award, it is possible to gain the CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing through undertaking two modules as opposed to the usual four. This can add value to your MSc, create differentiation and give you a major advantage over counterparts from other universities when searching for employment.
